Day Two Gutting of the Trailer (Evening )

I see studs! We discovered some issues of leaks behind the walls especially both corners at the rear of the trailer. A bad spot by the corner of the entry door  and a few more spots...

Tim's full report:

Damage from leaks in both rear corners, the left (door side) corner is the worst. It leaked and caused rear (door side) floor to rot from back of wheel well to rear corner.

Leaking occurred either from entry door or window and caused lower door frame and small area of floor to rot.

Left side of cab-over leaked and caused lower frame and where the loft slide out bed (in cab-over) to rot between wall and bottom of where the bed frame sat.

Waiting on report of the right side of the cab-over ...still not finished gutting that piece...I think that's the last of the demolition work.

Toad the Trailer/Camper gets "Dissected"

Time for Tim to gut the Toad. As I mentioned before the trailer had been unused for 10 years and also had a variety of critters living in it in the past 10 years as well. Between the critter smells and the air quality we decided Toad needed to be gutted. Day 1 was yesterday 5/28/2016 and Day 2 continues today.

 Hopefully by the end of today we will see the studs and see what we actually have and how much or how little wood rot and what state the insulation is in. Most likely we will replace close to everything.

Some photos from the gutting of Toad the Trailer. We bought a canopy to hold any parts we will keep or to save some wood for patterns to make new tables/counter/dinette etc.

A Vintage Trailer Book

Found a book at my local library called "Vintage Trailer Style". The book has incredible color photos and LOTS of them! The book has many ideas for set up and considerations on use of the trailers while camping. From themes, color schemes to road trips, it's really worth a look/read.

Vintage Trailer DVD- Worth a Look!

Found a DVD at my local public library. (remember you just need to request any library item on line through the library's website..or ask your librarian to "interloan" the library item and this way even if your library doesn't carry the item you can get almost ANY item!)

The DVD is titled "American Classics Old School Classic Travel Trailers" from The Vintage Vehicle Show.

It has a very cool history of trailers though the years from the 1920's to the 1960's.
